Pursuit of Happy: Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge

I was doing my normal Sunday routine of thinking about cleaning and watching Netflix instead. Berto, on the way back from a visit at his folks', called to say that it was such a pretty day out that he wanted to go for a drive. His "what direction should we drive in" resulted in us discovering the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge.

Being the nature lover that I am, I couldn't help but freak out as the residential homes and construction turned into trees and waterways. When the road finally dead-end at he Loxahatchee Everglades Tours/Rides, I jumped outta the truck and started snapping away. After Berto spotted a wee alligator I hopped in the bed of his truck (√° la Steve Irwin) and announced "Get me closer, Sempertegui!"

Although we didn't stay long, I had a blast. Berto wasn't too thrilled when I announced that we'd have to come back another day to explore the never-ending path but I know he'll come with... if only to act as my alligator spotter.

After having such a successful morning at Kapow, it was the perfect way to end my weekend.
