Pursuit of Happy: Day Trip to Key Largo

If you haven't figured it out by now, I love being outdoors. I love nature and greenery and sunshine and all that kit and kaboodle. Last May my bestite Sheena came down to visit and we took a day trip with her South Florida based family to Harry Harris State Park. Soon after Alberto and I took an exploratory and fun-filled day trip of our own to Key Largo.

I was obviously excited when Sheena's trip down this past weekend included another day trip to the Keys. Although the morning didn't play out exactly as we'd planned (my 5:30am gig ran late, took a little longer at Publix then we'd planned, accidentally headed North on the Turnpike) we eventually made it off the Florida mainland and were on our way.

We landed at John Pennenkamp Coral Reef State Park - a place I've always wanted to go but never had an opportunity before. Although the "sand" was a bit rough, it was gorgeous and provided a lot of great areas to explore. Berto and I have already decided that once I have my new ride (a RAV4), we're packing it up and heading back for a canoe trip.

PS - We also talked up Ma's Fish Camp so much to Sheena that she agreed to head a little further south for dinner. SO glad she did!
