Pursuit of Happy: Birthday Plans

From the age of 27 onward I was mentally preparing for my always looming 30th! Well last year 30 came and 30 went and with the help of my NYC extravaganza, it was pretty fun. I was just getting comfortable with the fact that I'm 30 and WHAM, I'm 4 days away from turning 31.

I've been so distracted with everything that's going on that I never took the time to figure out what I wanted to do, where I wanted to go and how I wanted to celebrate. I think my actual birthday will be spent working and then having dinner at home with my family and Alberto. I would, however, like to get together with some of my gal pals on Sunday, put on an obnoxious party hat and nosh on some cake. Now with less than a week away I'm scrambling to try piece together something that closely resembles a birthday.

A few key requirements to bare in mind:
  • Group Friendly: some places are okay with accommodating 9 or so ladies... others are not.
  • Mellow Yellow: I've always been a home-body (now more than ever) so whatever I do has to be somewhat low-key. I don't want to have to get too terribly fancied up.
  • Food... and lots of it: "Hungry Kelly" is a crabby Kelly and no one wants a crabby, hungry birthday Kelly. Therefore dinner (even if it's an early one) must be in order.
  • Conversation is Key: I thought about just doing a group movie outing but who wants to get together and sit in a dark room for 2 hours. I'd like to be able to spend quality time with my friends and catch-up... that's why we do these things anyway, right?
  • Sing it Loud: I know most people HATE when their server corrals all the other servers and they gather around you and sing their version of "Happy Birthday" at the top of their lungs... I happen to LOVE it! Throw a sparkler in that overpriced dessert and I'm on cloud nine.
Suggestions?

[edit]
I'm toying with the idea of heading to Hollywood and going to Jaxson's but an in-house movie night/pot luck has also been suggested... do you have any suggestions?

[edit]
JAXSON'S IT IS!
